Today’s Announcement: Second Interest Rate Decision of the Year
The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye is set to announce its interest rate decision today after the Monetary Policy Board meeting chaired by Central Bank President Fatih Karahan. In the previous meeting held in January, the policy interest rate was reduced from 47.50 percent to 45 percent.
There is anticipation that the interest rate will be further reduced to 42.5 percent. A recent Expectation Survey for the Monetary Policy Committee meeting, which involved 20 economists, revealed that all participants expect a 250 basis points reduction in the policy interest rate, bringing it down to 42.5 percent. Economists also predicted that the year-end policy interest rate would be around 30 percent.
