President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev Highlighted Tajikistan’s Role at SCO Summit
During a meeting on July 3, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan emphasized the significance of President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan’s attendance at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, as reported by the Akorda press service.
President Tokayev commended President Rahmon’s participation, noting that Rahmon was the only current President who was involved in the creation of the SCO back in 1996. He described the organization as effective, authoritative, and democratic at its core, expressing hope for a successful outcome at the upcoming summit.
In response, President Rahmon acknowledged Kazakhstan’s successful chairmanship in the SCO and highlighted the ongoing development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various areas including trade, economics, culture, humanitarian efforts, and security.
