Tokayev holds key meeting with Azerbaijan president at SCO Summit
ASTANA — President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently held a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who arrived on July 3 to participate in the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. The leaders discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan during their meeting at Akorda.
According to the Akorda press service, President Tokayev expressed his gratitude to President Aliyev for attending the SCO summit as a guest of honor and commended the progress of their strategic partnership. The two leaders focused on joint projects in various sectors such as investment, industry, energy, transport, and logistics, highlighting the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
President Aliyev expressed his appreciation for the warm reception in Kazakhstan and reiterated Baku’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Astana across different fields. He also thanked President Tokayev for his efforts in facilitating negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, underscoring Kazakhstan’s significant role in regional and international affairs.
