Tokayev Honors Magtymguly Pyragy’s Spiritual Legacy at Forum in Ashgabat
Kazakh President Tokayev Participates in Forum Celebrating Turkmen Poet Magtymguly Pyragy
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recently took part in the international forum, Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development, held in Ashgabat on Oct. 11. The event was organized to commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy.
During his speech at the forum, President Tokayev praised Magtymguly’s contribution as the founder of Turkmen classical literature and a prominent thinker in the Eastern world. He highlighted the significance of UNESCO’s recognition of Magtymguly Pyragy’s works by including them in the Memory of the World Register.
Tokayev emphasized the relevance of Magtymguly’s legacy in the face of current global challenges, stating that the poet’s humanistic poetry emphasizes the values of peace, trust, and mutual respect. He expressed confidence that Turkmenistan’s development and reforms will help strengthen the country’s statehood.
The President also mentioned the events held in Kazakhstan to honor Magtymguly’s 300th anniversary, including the unveiling of a monument in Astana. He underscored the close ties between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, based on shared spiritual roots and a common history.
In addition to President Tokayev, the forum was attended by several other world leaders, including the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The event served as a platform for fostering dialogue and cooperation among participating nations.
