TOKİ Issues Statement about Public Gardens

The Mass Housing Administration (TOKİ) of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has released a statement emphasizing the importance of public gardens in urban areas.
These public gardens projects aim to combat climate change, enhance green spaces in cities, create safe socializing spots for citizens, and provide gathering places during times of disaster. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s goal of establishing “81 to 81 national gardens” has been highlighted in the statement.
However, there has been opposition from certain groups who fail to recognize the significance of these projects and instead engage in political polarization. The statement stresses the social, economic, and climatic benefits of public gardens, including increased green space, reduced carbon emissions, and the promotion of a green lifestyle for citizens.
As the country continues to recover from the recent earthquake, the importance of gathering areas has become even more evident. The administration plans to prioritize the reconstruction of disaster areas while also completing national garden projects in line with the 2053 Net Zero Emission target.
It is crucial to understand the positive impact that public gardens have on urban environments and to support initiatives that contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future for all citizens.
