Tomorrow’s Strike Continues in Organized Workplaces – BRTK

32 trade unions have taken a stand against proposed changes to labor laws in front of the Republic Assembly, calling for a general strike to protest the amendments. The unions, who are against the changes to the cost of living calculation and collective bargaining agreement order, have announced that the general strike will continue tomorrow.
In a statement issued by KTÖS General Secretary Burak Maviş on behalf of the unions, it was highlighted that the government’s proposed changes aim to reduce purchasing power, leave minimum wage earners vulnerable, undermine collective bargaining rights, and harm the public. The unions have expressed their commitment to fighting against these attempts to further impoverish people.
The statement reiterated the determination of the unions to continue the strike in all organized places until the proposed laws are withdrawn. It was emphasized that the unions will not back down until they protect the rights of workers to a humane life and organized working conditions. The unions have also stated that they will challenge the proposed amendments in court and have called on all workers to join the strike and stand up against the changes.
The fight to protect workers’ rights and ensure fair labor laws continues as the unions stand united in their opposition to the proposed amendments. The general strike will persist until the demands of the workers are met and their rights are safeguarded.
