Kazakh Tourism Reveals Top Five Attractive Resort Areas for Tourists in Kazakhstan
ASTANA—Kazakh Tourism recently released a list of the top five attractive resort areas for tourists in Kazakhstan, with the Almaty mountain cluster topping the rankings. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the Almaty mountain cluster was the most visited destination from January to March, attracting a total of 551,965 tourists in just three months.
The popularity of the Almaty mountain cluster can be attributed to its stunning natural attractions such as Kolsai Lake and the Charyn Canyon, which draw both foreign and Kazakh tourists. Following closely behind in second place is the Burabay resort area, which welcomed 69,103 travelers, while the Sacred Mangystau on the shores of the Old Caspian Sea secured third place with 57,529 tourists.
The ancient city of Turkistan and the virgin forests of Katon Karagai and Altai resort area also made it to the list, attracting 26,069 and 20,696 guests respectively.
Despite the challenges faced by travelers in terms of transportation, with limited direct flights from major cities like Astana and Almaty, the Ministry of Transport is working towards addressing this issue. Alisher Tursyn, the official representative of Kazakh Tourism, highlighted that Kazakhstan offers unique adventure tourism experiences, such as horseback riding in Katon Karagai, making it an attractive destination for those seeking outdoor adventures.
While infrastructure and pricing remain areas for improvement, experts agree that the tourism sector in Kazakhstan is steadily growing and becoming more profitable each year. The development of the tourism cluster in the country signals a promising future for the industry, making Kazakhstan a must-visit destination for travelers seeking diverse and unique experiences.
