
Top Hungarian University Ranks in Top 200 in QS University Ranking

Quacquarelli Symonds recently released its latest university ranking, revealing that one Hungarian university has made it into Europe’s top 200 higher education institutions. Moreover, multiple Hungarian universities have shown progress on the list compared to 2024.
According to the information from eduline.hu, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) has secured the 190th position on the QS University Ranking, making it Hungary’s top university. In the global ranking (QS WUR), ELTE has climbed to the 564th place, improving by around 140 positions compared to 2024.
ELTE has shown significant improvement, rising by 18 positions compared to the previous year, as revealed by the 2025 European university ranking from QS. Following ELTE, the University of Debrecen has climbed 36 positions, and the University of Szeged has advanced by 14 positions.
On the other hand, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics has experienced a setback, dropping to the 238th position for 2025. However, Corvinus University Budapest, the István Széchenyi University in Győr, the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the University of Óbuda, and Miskolc have made their way onto the list.
The top Hungarian universities based on the QS 2025 ranking are as follows:

The top position in QS’s European ranking is held by ETH Zurich, surpassing the University of Oxford from 2024. Even the Imperial College London has moved up in the prestigious English top university ranking.
In the Eastern European region, the Charles University of Prague ranks as the best, holding the 79th position.
