Top Summer Travel Trends: Vacationers Prefer Foreign Destinations

Portofino, one of the most popular destinations in Italy, is attracting travelers from all over the world. According to a recent survey by insurance intermediary company, Insura, 56 percent of respondents prefer to travel abroad, while only 36 percent choose domestic destinations.

In terms of travel plans, 39 percent of respondents are considering both domestic and international trips, while 12 percent do not plan to go on holiday this year. Among those traveling abroad, 59 percent plan to spend at least a week in their chosen country, with 19 percent opting for longer or shorter trips. Only 14 percent want to go away multiple times for shorter periods, while eight percent are considering one-day trips.

Financial considerations also play a role in travel decisions, with 11 percent of respondents unable to afford a holiday this year and 40 percent needing to opt for more modest options.

When it comes to travel insurance, two-thirds of survey respondents take out insurance for all their trips abroad. The average price of travel insurance policies has seen a slight increase compared to last year, with the summer season expected to see a further rise in prices.

Last year, 26 percent of travel insurance policies were taken out for trips to Croatia, 15 percent for Italy, and nine percent for Austria, indicating a preference for these destinations. This year, similar proportions are expected, with popular destinations including Slovenia, Greece, and Romania.

In a surprising trend, Türkiye has become an increasingly attractive destination for Hungarian tourists, with a significant increase in visitors compared to previous years. Antalya, Istanbul, Aydın, Nevşehir, and Izmir have been among the top choices for travelers.

Overall, the survey highlights the ongoing interest in international travel, with travelers looking forward to exploring new destinations and experiencing different cultures. Whether it’s a relaxing beach vacation in Portofino or a cultural trip to Türkiye, travelers are eager to make the most of their holidays this year.
