Top Tazy Greyhounds Vie for Most Beautiful Title
Kokkaska, a Tazy dog from the Karagandy Region, emerged as the winner of the national greyhound competitions held in the Arshaly district of the Akmola Region. The four-year-old purebred Kazakh Tazy captured the hearts of the judges with her beauty and grace, ultimately claiming the title of the most beautiful dog in the competition.
Owned and raised by Kuanysh Sovetov, Kokkaska impressed the judges with her bluish coat and the distinctive white stripe on her forehead, which earned her the unique name. With both of her parents also being purebred Kazakh Tazy dogs, Kokkaska comes from a strong lineage of hunting and racing dogs.
Sovetov, a passionate hunter and trainer, shared his pride in Kokkaska’s achievements, highlighting her calm demeanor, beauty, and intelligence. He revealed that their training regimen includes running alongside his motorcycle in the vast steppe and swimming in the river, which has helped Kokkaska hone her skills and agility.
The Tazy breed, known for its speed and hunting abilities, plays a significant role in preserving Kazakhstan’s rich cultural heritage. With several thousand Tazy dogs in the country today, efforts are being made to promote and protect this treasured breed.
In a significant development for Tazy enthusiasts, the International Canine Federation (FCI) recently granted preliminary recognition to the Kazakh Tazy as an official dog breed, with Kazakhstan being designated as the breed’s standard holder. This recognition underscores the importance of the Tazy breed in the country’s cultural and historical landscape.
