President Zorlu Töre Receives Honor Award for Happy Peace Operation Anniversary
President of the Republican Assembly, Zorlu Töre, was honored with the “50th Anniversary of the Happy Peace Operation Honor Award” by the Anatolian Unifying and Industrialist Business World Association (ASIAD). The prestigious award ceremony took place at the Istanbul Çavuşbaşı Pavilion Beykoz, where a select group of guests attended.
During the event, themed awards highlighting “Social Responsibility and Autism Awareness” were also presented, as announced by the Parliament Press Office. In his speech, Töre reflected on the historical significance leading up to the Peace Operation in Cyprus, emphasizing the crucial role played by the Turkish Forces Regiment upon arrival in Cyprus.
President Töre recalled the tragic events of the Bloody Christmas attacks by the Greek Cypriots, where many Turks were mercilessly massacred until 1974, with some still missing and unaccounted for. He reaffirmed the Turkish world’s commitment to sovereignty, independence, and national protection, vowing to preserve the legacy of the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus).
Töre condemned the imperialist demands for the withdrawal of Turkish troops from Cyprus and restrictions on Turkish activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, underscoring the importance of safeguarding rights and interests in unity with the motherland.
Addressing the ongoing atrocities in Gaza, Töre condemned Israel’s state terrorism, calling for immediate international intervention to halt the brutal attacks on innocent civilians, including children and pregnant women. He criticized the UN Security Council’s lack of credibility in addressing Israel’s violations and advocated for alternative solutions to the Palestinian conflict outside the UN and EU frameworks.
Highlighting the solidarity and support of the Turkish world in defending ancestral and national values, Töre urged vigilance against deceptive tactics aimed at undermining the Turkish Cypriots’ cause. He stressed the collective responsibility to protect historical heritage and spiritual identity, asserting that unity and perseverance were essential in confronting external threats.
President Zorlu Töre’s impassioned address underscores the ongoing struggle for justice, peace, and the preservation of Turkish heritage amidst global challenges and regional conflicts.
