Töre’s Visit to TCG Bandırma Corvette Ship

Acting President of the Republic Assembly Chairman Zorlu Töre paid a visit to the TCG Bandırma (F-502) Corvette Ship, which is currently making a port visit in the TRNC as part of the Maritime and Cabotage Day. The ship is one of the combat elements of the Turkish Naval Forces Command.

During his visit, Töre was welcomed by Famagusta Naval Commander Marine Senior Colonel Meriç Katipoğlu and Ship Commander Marine Major Adnan Volkan Şan. The military guard also greeted President Töre, along with Security Forces Commander Major General Zorlu Topaloğlu.

The commanders provided President Töre with information about the ship’s capabilities and possibilities. After the visit, President Töre stated that the Bandırma Ship, which holds historical significance as the ship on which Mustafa Kemal Atatürk embarked to Samsun to start the War of Independence, had its name given by the Turkish Armed Forces.

Highlighting the special importance that the motherland Turkey always places on the TRNC, President Töre expressed their honor in witnessing warships in TRNC ports on special occasions. He also paid his respects to the naval martyrs who lost their lives during peace operations and various struggles, stating their commitment to protecting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and its lands and seas, referred to as the blue homeland, so that their souls may rest in peace.
