Severe Weather Causes Damage in Northern Cyprus
Recent rainy weather and strong winds have been wreaking havoc in many parts of Cyprus, particularly in the north. A tornado that hit the Büyükkonuk area at noon caused significant damage to the region.
The powerful tornado overturned a caravan and resulted in the destruction of many carob and olive trees. This comes after another tornado struck near Livana Hotel in Karpaz and in Çayırova, as reported by İskele District Governor Ertuğrul Toroslu.
Governor Toroslu revealed that in Çayırova, 26 houses, dairies, pergolas, and water tanks were damaged, with numerous trees broken or uprooted. He urged affected citizens to seek assistance from Yenierenköy or Mehmetçik townships and the İskele District Governorship, assuring them that efforts are underway to provide relief and support as soon as possible.
The severe weather conditions serve as a reminder of the importance of preparedness and resilience in the face of natural disasters. Authorities are continuing to assess the extent of the damage and provide assistance to those in need.
