Trade and Investment Support Group Meeting Held in Ashgabat and Moscow

The 9th meeting of the High-Level Group to Support Trade and Investment within the framework of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation took place on December 21-22 in Moscow.

The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Kerimberdy Kurbanov, while the Russian side was headed by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Volvach.

Discussions at the meeting focused on the development of trade and economic cooperation, potential joint projects, and ways to improve mutual trade. Additionally, the parties explored opportunities for collaboration in the fields of industry, energy, and education.

Following the productive meeting, the protocol of the 9th meeting of the High-Level Group to Support Trade and Investment within the framework of the Turkmen-Russian IGC on Economic Cooperation was signed.

The High-Level Trade and Investment Support Group aims to coordinate bilateral business ties and create a favorable business environment for companies in both Russia and Turkmenistan.

Operating within the framework of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian commission on economic cooperation, the Group works closely with the co-chairs of the IGC – Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov – to address key economic issues.

During a recent meeting in Moscow, Overchuk and Meredov also discussed preparations for the 13th meeting of the IGC and the upcoming second Turkmen-Russian business forum, which is scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan in January 2024. This indicates ongoing and robust economic collaboration between the two countries.

Overall, the meeting in Moscow underlined the commitment of both sides to fostering strong economic ties and cooperation for mutual benefit.
