Trade Minister Bolat Meets with Tunisian Officials

Turkish Minister of Commerce, Ömer Bolat, recently visited Tunisia to attend the 2nd Turkey-Tunisia Business and Investment Forum. During his visit, he met with Tunisian Minister of Energy, Industry and Mining, Şibub, and the Minister of Export Development, Bin Rajab.

The two ministers discussed various issues aimed at increasing the trade volume between the two countries and enhancing cooperation in strategic sectors. They also talked about potential investments and the role Turkish companies can play in helping Tunisia achieve its 2030 targets, particularly in renewable energy.

Minister Bolat’s visit is expected to strengthen economic relations between Turkey and Tunisia and lead to the implementation of mutually beneficial projects. After their meeting, Bolat and Bin Receb attended the forum, which was organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and the Tunisian Industry, Trade, and Craftsmen Union (UTICA).

At the forum, business people from Turkey and Tunisia discussed investment opportunities in Tunisia, focusing on sectors such as tourism, energy, agriculture, industry, and textiles. The event aimed to build on the discussions held at a previous forum in Istanbul in June and take concrete steps towards cooperation in priority sectors for both countries.

The trade volume between Turkey and Tunisia reached 1.6 billion dollars in 2023, with the majority consisting of Turkish exports. Turkish contractors have also implemented several projects in Tunisia, totaling nearly a billion dollars. The forum highlighted the potential for further collaboration and economic growth between the two nations.
