Tragedy Strikes as Two Drown in the Euphrates River
In a devastating incident in the Şanlıurfa province, two individuals lost their lives after drowning in the Euphrates River. The unfortunate incident occurred when the Yavuz family, hailing from Gaziantep, decided to visit the scenic Birecik district and enjoy a holiday on the riverbanks.
Seeking respite from the scorching summer heat, the family of five ventured into the Euphrates River to cool off. However, what was meant to be a leisurely swim turned into a life-threatening situation for all involved.
Realizing the imminent danger, nearby individuals rushed to the aid of the struggling swimmers. With the assistance of these Good Samaritans, all five individuals were successfully rescued and promptly transported to the Birecik State Hospital by the swift response of the 112 Emergency Service teams.
Tragically, despite the valiant efforts of the medical staff, Baran Yavuz (16) and Müslüm Yavuz (43) succumbed to their injuries and could not be saved. The remaining three survivors are currently receiving ongoing medical treatment as their road to recovery continues.
