Tragedy Strikes: Fisherman Drowns in Dam Lake

Three friends went fishing at Yamula Dam Lake in Kayseri, Turkey, but what was supposed to be a leisurely day turned into a tragic incident.
SA, MES, and İ.A. decided to fish on an islet about 50 meters away from the shore. However, as darkness fell, they decided to return to the shore. It was then that SA lost his balance and fell into the water, disappearing from sight. His friends MES and İ.A. jumped in after him in an attempt to save him.
Unfortunately, MES got stuck in the swamp while trying to rescue SA. Authorities were immediately notified, and search and rescue teams including the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue, 112 Emergency Health, UMKE, and IHH Search and Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
After a 3-hour search, the lifeless body of SA was found, while MES was rescued and treated by medical teams. SA’s body was taken to the Kayseri State Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and the need to always exercise caution when engaging in water-related activities. Our thoughts are with the friends and family of SA during this difficult time.
