Tragedy Strikes Şifa Hospital: 24 Dead in 2-Day Power Outage
The Israeli offensive on Gaza has led to a dire situation in the region, with reports of hospitals facing power outages and shortages of essential supplies. According to Ashraf al-Qudra, spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, 24 patients have lost their lives in the last 48 hours due to vital medical equipment failing as a result of the power outage.
Furthermore, Şifa Hospital, which is currently sheltering 650 patients and approximately 7,000 displaced individuals, is facing critical shortages of water, food, and milk for children. This has added to the already overwhelming challenges faced by healthcare facilities in Gaza.
In response to Israel’s continuous violations against the Palestinians and their sacred values, particularly the Masjid al-Aqsa, the armed wing of Hamas, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack, prompting heavy air strikes from the Israeli army against the Gaza Strip.
The toll of the violence is devastating, with reports of casualties on both sides. The Israeli army claims that 1,200 Israelis, including more than 310 soldiers, have died and 5,132 people have been injured in the attacks, while the government in Gaza reports the deaths of 11,500 people, including 4,710 children and 3,160 women.
In addition to the attacks in Gaza, there have been further casualties in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, with 200 Palestinians losing their lives in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers since October 7.
The conflict has also led to attacks on hospitals in Gaza, with reports of the Israeli army targeting hospital campuses and main buildings, resulting in deaths and injuries of hundreds of people and forcing the evacuation of these vital healthcare facilities.
The escalating violence has also seen clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah at the border, leading to the deaths of 76 Hezbollah members and 6 Israeli soldiers.
The situation in Gaza and the surrounding areas is dire, with civilian lives at risk and essential healthcare services being compromised. It is crucial for the international community to intervene and work towards de-escalating the conflict to prevent further loss of life and suffering.
