Tragic Death of Young Driver in Luxury Jeep Crash
Tragic Accident on Güngören E-5 Highway Claims the Life of Young Driver
In the early hours of the morning, tragedy struck on the Güngören E-5 highway in the direction of Merter. At approximately 01:30, Muhammet EA, a 19-year-old driver of a jeep with the license plate number 34 ZJ 2533, lost control of his vehicle while crossing the highway. The jeep crashed into the iron barriers, causing it to be thrown onto the road and catch fire. The impact also ejected Muhammet EA from the jeep, while his friends Erdem Ö., Eren G., and Yusuf D. were trapped inside the burning vehicle. The authorities were immediately alerted, and police, fire brigade, and medical teams rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, the police closed off the E-5 highway to ensure the safety of other motorists. The fire crews promptly intervened and managed to extinguish the fire in a short time. They worked tirelessly to rescue the injured individuals trapped inside the jeep.
Sadly, Muhammet EA, who had been thrown from the vehicle onto the road, did not survive the accident. Medical teams examined him at the scene and confirmed his death. The fire brigade successfully rescued Erdem Ö., Eren G., and Yusuf D., who were taken to Bakırköy Dr. Hospital with serious injuries. Sadi Konuk was also transported to State Hospital. Unfortunately, Eren G. and Yusuf D. were in critical condition, while Erdem Ö.’s condition was life-threatening.
The accident had severe consequences, not only for the victims and their families but also for the traffic on the E-5 highway. The Edirne-bound lanes of the highway were temporarily closed, and alternative routes were set up for the affected motorists. Arden Saral, an eyewitness, described how he witnessed the accident unfold. He recalled the driver of the black jeep suddenly changing lanes and asking for directions. Saral mentioned that none of the occupants were wearing seat belts. The jeep was traveling at a high speed and ultimately collided with the median, crossed into the opposite lane, and caught fire. The driver managed to jump out of the vehicle, but the car next to him was completely destroyed. Saral expressed his shock and distress at the scene, emphasizing the severity of the situation.
Following the wreckage removal with a tow truck, the E-5 highway was reopened to traffic. The police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
This tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the use of safety measures such as seat belts.
