Tragic Demise: District Mascot Dies in Fire

Tragic Fire at Horse Farm in Turkey Leaves Llama and Other Animals Dead
A devastating fire broke out on a horse farm located in Boyalılar Village of Daday district. The incident, which occurred in the evening, resulted in the death of several animals, including a beloved llama named “Pamuk,” a pony horse, and a peacock. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
The Daday Municipality fire brigade swiftly responded to the incident and successfully brought the fire under control. However, despite their efforts, the llama, which had gained popularity among visitors and children in particular, could not be saved. The loss of Pamuk has left both the farm owners and villagers heartbroken. Following the fire, local gendarmerie teams implemented security measures and carried out inspections in the surrounding areas.
Mehmet Kılıç, the owner of the horse farm, expressed his sorrow over the tragic event. He shared, “We operate this farm throughout the year, serving visitors on weekdays and weekends. We are still unsure about what transpired tonight. In the evening, we secured our llama, pony, and peacock in their respective barns. Around 9.30-10.00 pm, we received a distressing call informing us about the fire in the village. I had already left the farm around 6:00 pm, having completed my work. When I arrived at the scene, the fire brigade was already present, thanks to the help and support of our neighbors and strangers. Unfortunately, our llama, pony, and peacock were trapped inside the barn and could not be saved. They all perished in the fire.”
Kılıç mentioned that the cause of the fire is still unknown, stating, “Crime scene investigation teams are actively working to determine the cause. We have no personal knowledge of what might have caused it. Through the gendarmerie’s investigation, we hope to find out whether it was the result of our fault, negligence, or any other factor.”
Expressing their deep sadness, Kılıç added, “This incident has greatly affected us. Our utmost sadness stems from the loss of our llama, pony, and peacock. The wooden barn can be rebuilt, but the animals were irreplaceable. Pamuk had become everyone’s beloved mascot here, and people would often visit just to see him. He was accustomed to the local climate and brought happiness to many through his daily interactions. Unfortunately, this fire occurred, and it has left a significant void.
Furthermore, Kılıç clarified that the barn did not have any electrical wiring, stating, “There was no electrical installation in the barn. During the summer months, the animals stayed here, but during cold weather, we would take them to their dedicated barns. We have not yet examined the real barns due to the circumstances. Our actions were always based on weather conditions and ensuring the animals’ well-being.”
The loss of the llama and the other animals has undoubtedly cast a shadow over the horse farm and the community. The investigation into the cause of the fire will shed light on what led to this tragic event, providing closure to those affected by the loss.
