Tragic Discovery: Four Brothers Found Dead After Car Crash in Irrigation Canal

Four young siblings lost their lives in a tragic car accident in Şanlıurfa, Turkey. On the evening of the accident, 38-year-old Hasan Çetin was driving the family car with his wife Özlem (31) and their six young children Asmin (11), Aysun (9), Ecem (5), İbrahim (4), and Müslüm (1) on the Şanlıurfa-Viranşehir highway. Hasan lost control of the car, causing it to plunge about 7 meters deep into an irrigation canal owned by DSI. While Hasan managed to escape, his wife and five other children were trapped in the car, which sank into the water and was carried away by the current.

Upon receiving notification of the accident, a rescue team consisting of gendarmerie, health, AFAD, and diver police was quickly dispatched to the scene. However, only İbrahim, Ecem, Aysun, and Asmin’s lifeless bodies were found in the car. Özlem and Müslüm were missing.

The bodies of the four young siblings were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution, while the search for Özlem and Müslüm continued. A comprehensive investigation into the accident is ongoing, although it is still unclear what led to the car’s loss of control.

The tragic accident has left the community in mourning, and our thoughts are with Özlem and her family during this difficult time. We hope that the search for Özlem and Müslüm will yield a positive outcome and that their loved ones will find some comfort in the support and condolences of those around them.
