Two Men Drown in Sakarya

Two tragic incidents occurred in the Sakarya province of Turkey, resulting in the deaths of two men who drowned in separate incidents while swimming in the sea.

The first incident involved 31-year-old Caner İ., who went swimming with his friends at the Karasu Coastal Park after coming from Sapanca. Caner İ. disappeared while swimming in the sea, prompting a search operation by the police, lifeguards, health teams, and coast guard. Divers performed underwater searches while drones provided aerial support. Tragically, Caner İ.’s lifeless body was found approximately 50 meters away from where he disappeared.

In a separate incident, a 35-year-old Moldovan national identified as Igor P. was swept away by waves in the western part of Karasu Port in Yeni Mahalle. Search and rescue teams conducted an operation in the area and eventually found Igor P.’s lifeless body.

District Governor Mehmet Uğur Arslan visited the region to gather information from the authorities regarding the tragic events. In response to the incidents, district governorships in Karasu, Kocaali, and Kaynarca prohibited swimming in the sea due to intense waves and undercurrents affecting the coastal areas.

These tragic incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of water safety and the risks associated with swimming in the sea, especially in areas prone to strong currents and waves. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of Caner İ. and Igor P. during this difficult time.
