Tragedy Strikes as Firefighter Falls to His Death While Battling Forest Fire
A devastating incident occurred during a firing test activity conducted by a defense industry company in Sinop, resulting in a fire breaking out in a nearby forest. Kadir Eren Öter, a dedicated firefighter on duty at the company, tragically fell off a cliff while bravely fighting the fire. Despite an intense overnight search and rescue operation, Öter’s lifeless body was discovered.
In an official statement released by the Sinop Governorship, it was confirmed, “Our teams tirelessly worked to rescue the firefighter who fell from a height while responding to the fire. The firefighter’s lifeless body was found around 07.30 this morning.”
The company expressed deep sorrow in their statement, saying, “Our esteemed colleague, Kadir Eren Öter, lost his life in a tragic accident while battling a fire that erupted during our shooting test activities. Despite relentless search and rescue efforts by our company and state authorities, we are saddened to announce the loss of a valuable member of our Roketsan Family. Our thoughts are with Kadir Eren Öter’s family, loved ones, and the Roketsan family during this difficult time.”
Kadir Eren Öter, whose father also served as a firefighter, joined the company 1.5 years ago. He was reportedly preparing for his upcoming wedding. Öter will be laid to rest in the Beypazarı district of Ankara.
