Tragic Holiday Toll: 68 Dead, 9,787 Injured in 8 Days
Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya has issued a statement regarding the alarming number of traffic accidents that occurred during the holiday period. According to official statistics, there were 706 traffic accidents yesterday alone, resulting in 6 casualties and 1097 injuries. This brings the total number of fatalities during the first 8 days of the holiday to 68, with a staggering 9,787 individuals sustaining injuries.
In response to these tragic incidents, Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of road safety measures in a recent social media post. He highlighted the continuous efforts of traffic police and gendarmerie in conducting round-the-clock inspections and speed checks using radar technology. The Minister urged the public to refrain from excessive speeding, wear seat belts in vehicles and buses, and strictly adhere to traffic regulations.
