Tragic Incident: Pregnant Woman Dies in Devastating Accident en Route to Funeral
Tragic Car Accident Claims the Life of Young Mother and Unborn Child
In a heartbreaking incident, a car driven by İlker Şen collided with another car in the Ulukum locality of Asagidag village. The accident occurred as Şen was on his way to the village after receiving news of his grandfather’s passing. The license plate of Şen’s car was 67 LK 569, while the other car had the plate number 67 ACG 136.
The collision resulted in injuries to Eda Şen, 23 years old, and her 3-year-old son, Yiğit Asaf Şen, as well as another individual identified only as F.Ş. Promptly after the notification of the accident, health services, gendarmerie, and fire crews were dispatched to the scene.
Medical teams provided initial intervention and transferred Eda Şen to Alaplı State Hospital. Tragically, despite the attempts at medical intervention, she could not be saved. The treatment of the other injured parties is still ongoing.
Deepening the sadness of this incident, it was revealed that Eda Şen was four months pregnant. She was a member of the AK Party Alaplı Youth Branch Board of Directors. The body of Şen was taken from the morgue of Alaplı State Hospital and brought to the Asagidag village mosque for funeral proceedings.
Following the funeral of her grandfather Durmuş Şen, who also passed away on the same day, Eda Şen was laid to rest in the village cemetery.
In an effort to support İlker Şen, who lost his wife in the accident, the AK Party Provincial Presidency made a social media post requesting O RH positive blood for his upcoming operation at Karadeniz Ereğli State Hospital. The post emphasized the need for interested blood donors to visit Red Crescent blood centers.
