Tragic Incidents Unfold in ‘Shoulder Throwing’ Murder at the Market: Victim Fatally Attacked on Marriage Proposal Day
A Fight in Turkey Leaves One Dead and Others Arrested
On October 16, a heated argument between two individuals in Urla district, Turkey turned into a violent fistfight, resulting in the death of one person and the arrest of three brothers. The incident occurred on Ahmet Besim Uysal Street in Altıntaş District. Sercan Bavkır, a kickboxer and real estate agent, collided with contractor Semih Kenan Köse while shopping at a market. The dispute started with an accusation of “you threw your shoulders” and quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with Sercan Bavkır’s two brothers joining the fight.
During the altercation, Köse grabbed a bottle of alcohol and attempted to attack Sercan Bavkır. In response, Sercan Bavkır used a pocket knife to injure both Köse and his lover, Sibel Kabadayı, in the chest. Köse was rushed to Urla State Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries, while Kabadayı was treated and later discharged. Following the incident, Sercan Bavkır and his two brothers, Serkan Bavkır and Taylan Bavkır, turned themselves in to the police and were subsequently arrested by the court.
Security cameras in the market captured the entire fight, showing the use of metal rods and flying fists. In the footage, Köse can be seen covered in blood, with market employees attempting to separate the parties involved. Sibel Kabadayı, Köse’s girlfriend, is also seen holding him on the ground, waiting for medical help to arrive.
It has been revealed that Köse proposed to Kabadayı earlier on the same day during a boat tour. The couple had accepted the marriage proposal before the unfortunate incident occurred.
Meanwhile, the lawyers representing the Bavkır brothers filed a petition requesting the arrest of Sibel Kabadayı. They claimed that she played a role in instigating the fight by throwing glass jars towards the brothers, which caused the ground to become slippery and led to the unfortunate events that unfolded. The lawyers also expressed concerns about possible attempts to pressure witnesses or tamper with evidence and requested Kabadayı’s arrest on charges of destroying evidence or concealing information. The petition is currently under review by the Urla Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
