Tragic Loss: Soldiers Killed in Tunceli Accident, Father’s Child Born on Same Day
Minister Yerlikaya expressed his condolences on social media for the tragic accident that occurred in Tunceli’s Ovacık district, resulting in the martyrdom of four Gendarmerie soldiers and leaving one injured. The fallen soldiers were identified as Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeants Ömer Eroğlu, Mehmet Aykanat, Orhan Burak Büyükçaylı, and Gendarmerie Specialist Corporal Doğan Kızılateş. Minister Yerlikaya extended his sympathies to the families of the martyrs and wished a speedy recovery for the injured soldier.
The sad news of Gendarmerie Specialist Corporal Doğan Kızılateş’s martyrdom reached his family in Tokat. The family was informed of the tragic loss by Tokat Governor Abdullah Köklü and other officials. A Turkish flag was displayed at the martyr’s family home, and the funeral will take place in Tokat tomorrow.
In another heartbreaking development, Staff Sergeant Mehmet Aykanat, who tragically lost his life in the accident, hailed from the village of Kümbet. Having lost his father two years ago, the news of his martyrdom left his family and community in mourning. Turkish flags were raised in his honor, and neighbors and relatives gathered to offer their condolences.
Similarly, Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant Ömer Eroğlu, a native of Ormanlı town, also met a tragic fate in the accident. He had been married for four years and left behind a grieving family who hung Turkish flags in his memory.
Furthermore, Gendarmerie Staff Sergeant Orhan Burak Büyükçaylı’s family in Isparta was devastated by the news of his martyrdom. A Turkish flag was hoisted at their residence, and a condolence tent was set up by the municipality. Tragically, Orhan Burak Büyükçaylı’s wife gave birth to a baby boy on the same day as his martyrdom.
