Tragic Fire Claims Three Young Lives in France
A heart-wrenching incident occurred on April 26th in Brumath, near Strasbourg, where three siblings from the Kuru family tragically lost their lives due to a fire caused by a refrigerator. Ecrin and Hatice Kuru died in the house during the blaze, while their sister Melek Kuru succumbed to smoke inhalation, despite attempts to rescue her.
The family, originally from the Ardeşen district of Rize, Turkey, was not present at home when the fire broke out. The devastating event has left a profound impact on their loved ones and community.
Funeral Held Amidst Mourning
The funerals for the three siblings took place in Rize, drawing a significant turnout. A solemn ceremony was held at the Central Mosque in Ardeşen, attended by Rize Governor İhsan Selim Baydaş, local deputies, mayors, NGO representatives, and numerous relatives and friends. Following prayers led by Rize’s Mufti, Naci Çakmakçı, the siblings were laid to rest in their family cemetery.

AK Party Rize Deputy Harun Mertoglu expressed his condolences, stating, "A very painful event… May Allah treat them with mercy. Our offspring have flown to heaven." He noted that the fire was likely caused by a gas leak from the refrigerator. Mertoglu wished for patience for the grieving parents, recognizing their immense loss.
CHP Rize Deputy Tahsin Ocaklı shared his sorrow, mentioning that he followed the situation closely and had been in contact with the family and officials. "It is a very painful thing. It is unfathomable that they lost their lives," he remarked.
