Tragic Discovery: Missing Couple Found Deceased in Canyon
Süleyman Erdoğan, a 38-year-old family man married with two children, and his friend Gizem Sinanoğlu, also a married individual with two children, were reported missing on April 30th. Their disappearance prompted an extensive search operation involving local authorities and rescue teams.
On the third day of searching, authorities discovered Erdoğan’s car—a black vehicle with plate number 52 months 465—in the vicinity of Küpkaya Canyon. This marked a significant breakthrough in the investigation, leading rescuers to intensify their efforts in that area.
Sadly, Gizem Sinanoğlu’s lifeless body was recovered shortly thereafter, deepening the distress surrounding this case. The search teams, which included personnel from the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Fire Brigade, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), and the Marine Police, conducted thorough operations to locate the missing pair.
Ulubey Mayor Isa Türkcan expressed his sorrow, stating, “Yesterday, we found our sister; today we reached our brother. It’s heartbreaking that we could not bring them home alive, and our pain is immense. They were cherished members of our community.”
This tragedy highlights the profound impact of their loss on friends, family, and surrounding residents. As the community mourns, the families of Süleyman and Gizem are left to navigate the painful reality of their absence.
