Trans-Caspian Transport Route Sets Sights on Moving 2.5 Million Tons of Cargo by 2025
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) international association is gearing up for a busy year ahead with plans to transport 2.5 million tons of goods in 2025. During a recent meeting in Baku on March 4, the association outlined its goals, which include moving 96,000 containers in twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
Last year, cargo transportation through the seaports of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan reached 3.3 million tons, marking a 20% increase from 2023. The growth in container traffic was especially noteworthy, with 56,500 TEUs transported, representing a 176% increase compared to the previous year. Notably, the number of container trains from China jumped significantly, increasing by 33-fold in 2024.
Looking towards the future, the association announced plans to establish a representative office in Xian. This strategic move is expected to enhance cargo transportation along the TITR route and foster stronger collaborations with Chinese companies.
In addition, new members have joined the association, including Xian Free Trade Port from China, Poti Trans Terminals from Kazakhstan, and UZ Cargo Poland from Poland.
During the meeting, key topics such as boosting Caspian Sea cargo volumes, enhancing port infrastructure, leveraging new technologies, fostering international cooperation, and addressing the environmental impact of transportation in the region were discussed.
The TITR international association is poised for continued growth and success as it strives to facilitate efficient and sustainable transportation of goods across the region.
