“TRNC Elections Scheduled for June 25th”

Election Bans Start in Turkey ahead of Parliamentary and Local Organization By-Elections
Turkey is preparing for the Parliamentary and Local Organization mid-term elections, and election bans have been implemented as of May 22, according to the Supreme Election Board. The election propaganda is set to end on June 24, and the polls will be open on June 25. The board has announced that during the election bans, all naturalization procedures will be stopped, and candidates will not be able to make financial contributions to any sports club, association, charity, or similar organization. Additionally, T permit, permission to open a fuel station, and permit to carry a gun and/or to save will not be granted during this time, except for compulsory tenders with permission from the board.
Moreover, the President, Prime Minister, ministers, deputies, and mayors will not be able to travel in their official cars or hold any ceremonies or formal banquets, such as greetings and farewells as required by the protocol. They will be restricted to the rules of the Election and Referendum Law No. 5/1976. According to the law, no public official can participate in the domestic tours of those mentioned above until the election results are announced.
The last day for political parties to select their candidates and apply for candidacy is May 29 and May 31, respectively. On June 1, the candidates will be temporarily announced, and on June 4, the final candidates will be announced by the District and Supreme Election Board.
The upcoming by-elections are significant as the outcome may influence the distribution of power and authority in the political arena.
