TRNC’s Commitment to Social Welfare for all Citizens
President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) recently met with students and academics from the American University of Cyprus (KAÜ) to discuss the challenges faced by disabled individuals in the country, particularly in universities. During the meeting, President Tatar emphasized the importance of addressing these issues and stated that there will be initiatives to support disabled individuals in the near future.
In his remarks, President Tatar underscored the TRNC’s commitment as a social state to protecting all its citizens. He highlighted the government’s efforts to improve the quality of life for disabled individuals through various activities in sports and social spheres. President Tatar expressed his wish to meet the expectations of disabled individuals through sensitivity and new projects, as well as through the implementation of necessary legal regulations.

During the meeting, AAU Faculty Member Emel Yılmaz and student Ahmet Kurkmaz presented a project aimed at overcoming the challenges faced by disabled individuals in higher education. The discussion highlighted the importance of collective efforts to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for disabled individuals in the TRNC.
