TRNC’s Observer Status in TURKPA Welcomed by BRTK
The 10th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States concluded with the acceptance of the Astana Declaration. The declaration emphasizes the commitment of the leaders to promote multilateral cooperation within the organization based on the shared history, language, culture, traditions, and values of the Turkic peoples.
One significant highlight of the declaration is the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), an integral part of the Turkish world. The TRNC has obtained observer status in the TURKPA (Turkish Speaking Countries Parliamentary Assembly) and the Union of Turkish Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Additionally, the observer status of the Economic Cooperation Organization in the Organization of Turkic States was also welcomed.
The declaration also emphasizes the importance of member countries engaging in consultations to develop a unified stance on regional and international issues that affect the interests of the Turkish world.
Looking ahead, it has been decided that the next Council of Heads of State Summit of the Organization of Turkic States will take place in Kyrgyzstan in 2024.
The declaration reaffirms the commitment of Turkic nations to strengthen cooperation and foster closer ties among their people. Through continued collaboration, the Turkic world aims to address common challenges, promote economic development, and preserve and promote their shared heritage.
