TRT Targeted by Putschists in Istanbul

FETO Traitors Attempt to Silence TRT During July 15 Coup Attempt

In a daring move to silence the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), FETO traitors launched an attack on the night of July 15 in Istanbul. The putschists stormed TRT Istanbul Radio in Harbiye, brandishing bomb threats as they invaded the premises.

Necmi Hastürk, a TRT cameraman who was present during the incident, recounted the chilling moments, stating, “One of our colleagues noticed soldiers outside in the garden and suspected a coup might be underway.”

Realizing the gravity of the situation, the TRT employees swiftly began evacuating the building. However, their plans were interrupted when the traitors disarmed the security guards and forcefully emptied the premises.

Hastürk described the scene, saying, “The corridors were filled with soldiers who ordered us to leave immediately. They informed us that we were no longer required as employees and instructed us to go home. They claimed to have taken control of both the country and the institution.”

Outside, thousands of concerned citizens had gathered to protect TRT. Sensing the urgency, TRT employees sought shelter at Radyoevi, wasting no time in regrouping.

Ferit Demirbaş, a TRT correspondent, revealed that they remained in constant contact with the TRT headquarters throughout the ordeal. However, the putschists eventually cut off their communication channels, leaving the TRT staff worried for their safety.

Undeterred by the hostile situation, the people stood their ground against the traitorous coup attempt. Gunshots and intimidation tactics were used by the putschists, but the courageous citizens of Turkey remained resolute on Cumhuriyet Street.

Demirbaş recounted a shocking announcement made by the police during the chaos, stating, “I heard something I couldn’t believe at first: ‘Soldiers, you are doing it wrong. Do not use the weapons entrusted to you by the state against us and the people.’ As time went on, the crowd continued to grow. Those who had bid farewell to their loved ones and left their homes behind did not back down. I saw not a trace of fear in their eyes.”

The people’s resilience prevented the traitors from fully occupying TRT, as they maintained control of the premises until morning. Tens of thousands of individuals showed up at the Radio House in Harbiye to resist the putschist invasion. Tragically, the night claimed the lives of Fahrettin Yavuz, Murat Demirci, and Moroccan national Cevat Merrun, while 50 others sustained injuries.

Additionally, the traitors sought to seize TRT’s Ulus building to halt the broadcasts. A total of 43 putschist soldiers arrived at TRT’s Ulus Campus in four military vehicles. They were later joined by an additional group of 10 individuals who arrived by helicopter. At gunpoint, they successfully interrupted the broadcasts. Outside, however, patriots rallied together, running alongside their homeland, their nation, and their flag.

The aftermath of the coup attempt revealed hundreds of shell casings in Harbiye and military vehicles, rifles, and uniforms scattered in Ulus.

Aslihan Karsli reported this news, while Muhammet Ali Aksakalli captured the events on camera.
