Truck carrying 6 tons of strawberries engulfed in flames

A truck carrying approximately 6 tons of strawberries caught fire on the North Marmara Motorway in Edirne, Turkey. The incident occurred at 00.15 hours at the Bozhane location, causing a major disruption on the road. The driver of the truck noticed flames rising from the tires of the vehicle and immediately pulled over to the safety lane. However, the fire quickly spread to the rest of the truck, engulfing it in flames.
Authorities were quick to respond, with gendarmerie traffic teams arriving at the scene to secure the area and ensure the safety of other drivers. Firefighters were also called in to extinguish the blaze before it caused further damage. The intense fire destroyed the wooden crates carrying the strawberries, resulting in a loss of approximately 1 million pounds in market value.
Due to the fire, traffic on the motorway was restricted to a single lane as authorities worked to clear the road of debris and wreckage. Once the strawberries were removed and the road was cleaned, traffic flow returned to normal. An investigation into the cause of the fire, likely related to the truck’s brake linings, has been initiated.
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers that can arise on the road and the importance of taking swift action in emergency situations. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in connection with the truck fire, but the financial loss suffered serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and vehicle maintenance.
