Truck Loaded with Coal Returns to Flaming Tunnel in Malatya

A coal-loaded truck caught fire in the Early Early Tunnel in Malatya, causing chaos and traffic delays in the neighborhood. The truck driver, Muzaffer Taş, noticed flames coming from the coal and quickly stopped the vehicle in the tunnel, alerting other drivers to the danger.
Firefighters, AFAD, gendarmerie, and police teams rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire, which had engulfed the truck in flames. It took 8 fire trucks and 2 hours of work to finally put out the flames. One person was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to Gölbaşı State Hospital.
The tunnel was closed to transportation, causing a long line of vehicles to build up. Officials diverted traffic away from the area while emergency crews worked to contain the fire. After 2 hours, the tunnel was reopened to traffic as firefighters completed their cooling procedures and cleared the tunnel of smoke.
Malatya Governor Seddar Yavuz, Provincial Police Chief Arif Çankal, and Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Tolunay Baser visited the scene to assess the situation and gather information about the incident. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
In the meantime, drivers are urged to exercise caution and follow any detours or traffic instructions in the area to ensure safety and prevent further accidents.
