Trump Pushes for Construction of Keystone XL Pipeline

Former President Donald Trump has once again expressed his support for the Keystone XL Pipeline Project, calling for its immediate construction. In a statement posted on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump urged the company responsible for the project to complete the construction without delay.

“We want the Keystone XL Pipeline to be built,” Trump stated. He criticized the current administration under President Joe Biden, stating that his administration had provided easy approval for the project to almost start. Trump also hinted that if the current company does not follow through, another pipeline company may step in to take on the project.

The Keystone XL Pipeline Project, which aimed to transport oil from Canada to refineries in the Gulf of Mexico, was expected to carry approximately 800,000 barrels of oil per day. The project had faced opposition in the past, with former President Barack Obama rejecting it in 2008 for environmental reasons. However, Trump approved the project on March 24, 2017.

Following Biden’s inauguration in 2021, he swiftly signed a decree to cancel the project. Subsequently, TC Energy, the Canadian-based company behind the project, announced its decision to terminate the pipeline project.

The future of the Keystone XL Pipeline Project remains uncertain, with differing views on its environmental impact and economic benefits. As the debate continues, the fate of this controversial project hangs in the balance.
