Trump’s Last Minute War Announcement: Iran and Houthis in the Crosshairs

US President Donald Trump’s recent statements regarding the situation in the Middle East have caused a stir on the global stage. In response to the ongoing conflict with the Houthi rebels in Yemen, Trump issued a warning, stating, “Option for the Houthis net: if they stop firing at US ships. Otherwise, we have just started. Both Houthis and their supporters in Iran have not yet tasted the actual pain.”
This statement has escalated tensions between the US and Iran, with Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bekayi strongly condemning Trump’s threat of bombing Iran. Bekayi stated that Trump’s actions are in violation of international peace and security norms and called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
In a separate development, Trump recently announced that he had written a letter to Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, calling for both threats and negotiations. However, Khamenei rejected the offer, stating that Iran would not engage in negotiations under threat. Despite this, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Erakçi expressed readiness for indirect negotiations through intermediaries, but emphasized that certain issues, such as Iran’s defense capabilities, were non-negotiable.
As tensions continue to rise, Trump has warned Iran of severe consequences if they do not reach an agreement with the US. In response, Khamenei has vowed to strongly retaliate against any attack on Iran. The situation remains tense, with both sides standing firm in their positions. The international community is closely monitoring the situation in the region as tensions escalate.
