Minister of Industry and Technology: Turkey Making Strides in Space Technologies
The Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, recently made statements highlighting Turkey’s advancements in space technologies. He emphasized that with a strong political will, the country has made significant progress in this field over the last 22 years.
Kacır mentioned that Turkey has achieved a major milestone by creating an accumulation of experience through a project involving nearly 500 experts from TÜBİTAK Space, Türksat, and TUSAŞ. By producing 84 equipment in 24 different categories with domestic facilities, Turkey has reached over 80 percent of the local level and has become one of the 11 countries capable of producing its own communication satellite.
The Minister also announced plans to establish a national satellite company with global competitiveness. He highlighted that Türksat 6A is ready for business after the commissioning process and that Turkey will continue to implement new breakthroughs in space technology.
Moreover, Kacır stated that Turkey aims to strengthen its claim in space with the launch of Türksat 7A and new generation team satellites imece 2 and imece 3. He emphasized the country’s goal of bringing the space harbor to Turkey and gaining a larger share in the global space economy through advancements in the space industry.
With a strong production and technology development infrastructure, Turkey is increasingly becoming a country with a say at the table in the international arena. The success of the Türksat 6A project serves as a concrete indicator of Turkey’s progress in space technologies.
