Turkey begins voting process.

Turkey holds General Election of the President and the 28th Term Member of Parliament today as more than 60 million people are expected to cast their votes across the country. The voting process started at 8:00 a.m. and will end at 5:00 p.m. local time. A total of 191,910 ballot boxes are set up in 81 provinces for the elections, while 24 political parties and 151 independent parliamentary candidates across Turkey will enter the race.

It is noted that over 4 million youths will vote for the first time in the elections. Also, the number of voters imprisoned or convicted of negligent crimes in prison is 53,172. The number of voters expected to vote in a ballot box ranges from 360 to 380 people in provinces and districts. However, if the number of voters in the villages does not exceed 400, all votes can be cast in one ballot box.

According to the decisions of the Supreme Election Board (YSK), it is forbidden to make predictions and comments on the elections and their results in the media until 6:00 p.m. Afterward, news and communiqués to be given by the YSK regarding the election will be published between 6:00 and 9:00 pm. All broadcasts will be free after 9:00 pm, and YSK has the authority to set this time earlier.

In the capital Ankara, 4.2 million people are supposed to cast their votes today. Citizens who came to Kocatepe Mimar Kemal Anatolian High School, one of the voting stations in Ankara, had entered the cabins set up in the classrooms and cast their votes.
