Turkey to Begin Oil and Gas Exploration in Three Blocks in Somalia

Turkey is expanding its presence in the energy sector with new exploration activities in Somalia. Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar revealed that Türkiye Petroleum, the state-owned oil company, will be commencing exploration activities in three black fields in Somalia in the near future.

Bayraktar stated that the goal of these exploration activities is to assess the potential for oil and gas reserves in these fields, further expanding Turkey’s footprint in the global energy market. The Minister also emphasized the importance of diversifying energy sources and securing new reserves to meet Turkey’s growing energy demands.

This move is part of Turkey’s broader strategy to strengthen its energy security and reduce dependence on external sources. By investing in exploration projects in Somalia, Turkey aims to enhance its energy independence and contribute to the development of the local economy.
