Turkey to Present Statement to ICJ on Behalf of Palestine

President of the Parliamentary Justice Commission, Cüneyt Yüksel, recently spoke at a press conference in Parliament about the tragic events in Gaza and the Hocalı Massacre, calling for justice and accountability. Yüksel highlighted the regional and global implications of crimes committed by Israel against humanity, expressing concern over the lack of action by the international community.
Yüksel criticized the international system for its failure to address the situation in Gaza and for its complicity in the oppression of Palestinians. He pointed out the misuse of veto power by the United States to protect Israel from accountability, stating that this support undermines the ability of international law to effectively respond to violations.
Furthermore, Yüksel raised concerns about the US’s military aid to Israel and its impact on international law, emphasizing the need to hold countries accountable for their support of actions that violate international law. He also discussed the recent sanctions imposed by the US President, Donald Trump, against the Gaza Plan and the International Criminal Court, noting the detrimental effects on justice and accountability.
Yüksel highlighted the importance of organizations like the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) in providing critical support to displaced Palestinians in Gaza. He condemned the decision to close down UNRWA, emphasizing the essential role that humanitarian aid organizations play in addressing the needs of refugee populations.
Yüksel called for increased efforts to support justice and accountability in the region and urged the international community to take a stronger stance against human rights violations. He emphasized the need to uphold international law and ensure that all parties involved are held responsible for their actions.
