Turkey’s Ibrahim Kalin Shifts Focus to Gaza and Syria
Ibrahim Kalın, Turkey’s presidential spokesperson, recently attended the Munich Security Conference 2025 where global and regional crises were discussed under the theme of “multipolarity”. According to security sources, Kalın participated in bilateral talks, intelligence sessions, and highlighted Turkey’s proactive and preventive intelligence diplomacy.
During the conference, Kalın emphasized the need for regional and subject-based alliances in the changing world order, as well as the fragile structure of the global order. He also addressed the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine, particularly the fragile ceasefire in Gaza and the importance of providing humanitarian aid and maintaining a permanent ceasefire.
Kalın also discussed the developments in Syria, emphasizing the importance of the transition process and the need to abolish sanctions to help develop the country. He also stressed the importance of combating terrorist organizations like DAESH and PKK in the region.
Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, Kalın highlighted the impact of the conflict on Turkey and the world economy. He emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution through negotiations, and underlined the importance of providing security in the Black Sea for Turkey and the global community.
Kalın reiterated Turkey’s commitment to transitioning from a “two-polar” world to a “multipolar” one, and mentioned ongoing efforts by Turkish intelligence to combat terrorism, illegal migration, and cyber security threats. The work of Turkish intelligence in these areas continues at full speed, according to Kalın.
