Minister Işıkhan Delivers Speech at International Congress on Labor, Digitalization, and Social Justice
Minister Işıkhan recently addressed the attendees at the “International Congress of Labor, Digitalization, and Social Justice” held in Memur-Sen. He began his speech by conveying President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s greetings to the 200 unionists from 41 countries participating in the congress.
During his speech, Minister Işıkhan emphasized the importance of international collaboration in the sharing of experiences related to the rapidly changing working environment brought about by the digital age. He highlighted the significance of core values such as labor, production, and social justice in shaping the history of humanity and stressed that these values are at the forefront of the government’s development initiatives under President Erdoğan’s leadership.
Minister Işıkhan praised the role of stakeholders, non-governmental organizations, and trade unions in addressing challenges within the labor sector. He highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering dialogue and cooperation among various stakeholders to achieve common goals and ensure fair representation in workplace environments.
Furthermore, Minister Işıkhan outlined the government’s efforts in strengthening trade union organization and expanding union rights for public personnel. He cited significant increases in unionization rates and collective bargaining rights for employees as evidence of the government’s commitment to improving working conditions and ensuring social justice.
Despite international criticism of Turkey’s trade union rights and working conditions, Minister Işıkhan defended the country’s progress in labor reform and emphasized the government’s transparency and commitment to international norms. He urged foreign guests to observe firsthand the positive impact of unions like Memur-Sen in upholding labor rights in Turkey.
