Turkey’s Natural Gas Storage Capacity to Reach 12 Billion Cubic Meters

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar recently addressed concerns about natural gas storage capacity in Turkey, emphasizing the importance of underground storage facilities in ensuring a continuous and strategic gas supply. In response to a written question by new Justice and Development Party Izmir deputy Mustafa Bilici, Bayraktar revealed that the North Marmara and Salt Lake Natural Gas Underground Facilities have a total storage capacity of 5.8 billion cubic meters.

Bayraktar confirmed that the storage facilities are currently operating at full capacity and efforts are in place to increase storage capacity to enhance energy supply security. By 2028, the goal is to reach a total storage capacity of around 12 billion cubic meters through various projects aimed at expanding storage facilities.

With this strategic approach, Turkey is taking proactive steps to bolster its energy infrastructure and ensure a reliable and sustainable natural gas supply for its citizens and industries. This commitment to expanding storage capacity reflects the government’s dedication to energy security and resilience in the face of evolving global challenges and demands.
