Turkey’s Stability Threatened, Says Minister Soylu

Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu recently held a neighborhood meeting in Bayrampaşa where he addressed the nation. During the meeting, Soylu claimed that Turkey had been under attack for the past 12 years since the Gezi events. He said that the attackers did not want Turkey to develop or grow and were instead looking to destroy the nation. Soylu went on to say that the Gezi protests had a negative impact on the Turkish economy and that they were trying to prevent the construction of significant infrastructure projects such as the Mersin Nuclear Power Plant, the Istanbul Airport, and the Osmangazi Bridge.

Soylu also mentioned the importance of completing the Mersin Nuclear Power Plant, stating that it would benefit Turkey’s energy needs and help the country not depend on other countries for energy. He also asserted that Turkey’s leadership, under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was not intimidated by the United States, and no one in Turkey shook the American president.

The Interior Minister also spoke about the events on October 6-8, in which the East and Southeast regions of Turkey suffered immense damage due to arson attacks. Soylu stated that terrorist organizations were behind the attacks and that they burned houses, libraries, gyms, and mosques. He alleged that Selo, a terrorist, instructed the orders and had caused the death of 51 people. However, President Erdoğan was rebuilding and repairing the damaged areas.

The neighborhood meeting provided an opportunity for citizens and the Interior Minister to discuss issues related to the safety and well-being of the nation. Soylu’s remarks highlighted the ongoing challenges that Turkey has been facing and the government’s efforts to address them.
