Body of Missing Turkish Professor Found in London Canal

Turkish professor Orhan Ekren, who had been missing since November 26, was found dead in the Regent canal passing through the Camden district of London. Speaking to AA correspondent, Banu Ekren, his wife, revealed that her husband’s body was discovered near the last point where the signal was received on the phone application used by the family to track each other’s locations.

The discovery was made after a municipal cleaning worker reported a dead body in the canal on December 15. Following this report, the police sent photographs to the family for identification, which was completed on December 17.

Autopsy studies are currently ongoing in England, and once the body is received, the funeral ceremony for Orhan Ekren will be held in the Torbalı district of Izmir, Turkey. Ekren, who lived in Milton Keynes near London, disappeared in the Camden district on the evening of November 26.

The London Metropolitan Police conducted two searches of the canal in an effort to locate Ekren, whose last phone signal was traced to the edge of the Regent canal. His backpack and wet clothes were found on the bank of the canal, with his belongings left intact in the bag.

Authorities are seeking help from witnesses to provide any information that may aid in the investigation. The tragic incident has left the Ekren family mourning the loss of their loved one.
