Turkish and Greek Songs Unite at Athens Concert
A Celebration of Turkish and Greek Music in Athens
Melodies from Turkey and Greece were at the center of a special event hosted by Turkey’s Ambassador to Athens, Çağatay Erciyes.
Ambassador Erciyes highlighted the recent positive developments in Turkish-Greek relations in his speech before the concert. He emphasized that this new era of cooperation is evident in various sectors like economy, trade, and culture.
Describing the concert as a significant step towards strengthening Turkish-Greek ties, Erciyes expressed his hope for further collaboration between the two countries in the realms of culture, art, and music.
The performance featured Turkish pianist Nazlı Hacıalioğlu and Greek clarinetist Thanasis Vasilopulos. Together, the two artists graced the stage in a concert titled “Aegean Breezes”, treating the audience to a repertoire that included Turkish classics like “You did not come”, “Your brother does not hear”, “Thin Rose of My Mind”, “Ah Istanbul”, “Yiğidim Aslanım”, as well as traditional Greek songs.
The event served as a beautiful showcase of the rich musical traditions shared between Turkey and Greece, sparking hope for continued cultural exchange and collaboration between the two nations.
