Turkey to Send 120 Athletes to Compete in Fifth World Nomad Games
ASTANA – Turkey is gearing up to send 120 athletes to compete in nine sports at the fifth World Nomad Games, as reported by Kazinform on Aug. 19.
The event, which will be hosted by Kazakhstan, will see athletes from various countries coming together to showcase their skills and compete in traditional nomadic sports. Turkey previously hosted the games in İznik two years ago.
Osman Başer, a member of the board of the World Ethnosport Confederation, emphasized the significance of such events in fostering cultural exchange among young people, as they have the opportunity to bond over sports.
“Our goal is to preserve the legacy for the next generation. In this regard, Kazakhstan is undoubtedly fulfilling its obligations,” Başer stated.
In addition to Turkey, the Organization of Turkic States and the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) are also actively preparing for the games. TÜRKSOY will organize exhibitions and performances to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Turkic peoples and strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties among Turkic states.
Notably, this year’s World Nomad Games will welcome athletes from several countries making their debut appearance, including Brunei Darussalam, Liberia, Venezuela, Ireland, the Dominican Republic, Gambia, Ethiopia, and Peru.
With athletes from around the world set to gather in Kazakhstan for this unique sporting event, the fifth World Nomad Games promises to be a platform for cultural exchange, athleticism, and camaraderie among nations.
