
Turkish Cypriot Scientist Prof. Dr. Vamık Volkan’s Personal Archive in TRNC National Archives

The personal archives of world-renowned Turkish Cypriot scientist Prof. Dr. Vamık Volkan have been successfully brought to the TRNC National Archives and Research Department, according to the Director of the National Archives and Research Department, Ejdan Grand Vizier. After approximately two years of work, the archives located in the United States and in the country were classified and documented before their transfer.
During a visit to the archive, Prof. Dr. Vamık Volkan expressed his satisfaction with the preservation of his work through the archives for future researchers and generations to come. He also made a statement regarding the relationship between Atatürk and Turkish Cypriots, highlighting the deep influence that Atatürk had on shaping the identity and sense of salvation for many.
Volkan shared personal anecdotes about his father’s admiration for Atatürk and his own research journey into the life and family of Atatürk, which led to the writing of his books “Immortal Atatürk” and “Atatürk-Anatürk”. He emphasized Atatürk’s role as a symbol of restoration and salvation, drawing parallels with other leaders like Putin and highlighting the unique qualities of Atatürk’s saviorship.
